*** Mary enters Safe Place ***
Mary walked into Safe Place and waved at the nurses in the front. The security was wicked here, but they all knew who she was so it wasn't too bad. She walked up to Marissa's office and peeked her head in, but she wasn't there. Maybe she was off tonight? Mary shrugged and walked over to where she knew who she wanted to see would be. She told Rhage about him this afternoon, but since he was out for the night, most likely thinking about it, she had to come see him. They hadn't even talked to Wrath or Beth about it yet, so who knows if it's even possible. But something was there, and she couldn't push it past her.
Mary walked into the room and watched a nurse pick him up as he was crying. She sighed and smiled. The nurse turned around and smirked, handing the baby boy over to Mary. "You know, he's got no one."
Mary looked at his brown eyes and melted. "I know... I hate it, I wish..."
The nurse nodded. "You deserve it. He doesn't respond to anyone like he does to you. You calm him, instantly. You know, I can ask around if there is a specific process?"
Mary shook her head. "No thanks, I'm already on that. You just worry about work, and keeping here for me."
Mary smiled big and cuddled the baby. "How are you, sir?"
The infant boy cooed in Mary's arms, snuggling close to her. Her heart completely melted.

A couple hours later you would find Mary sitting on the ground, playing with the boy. They were playing blocks. He was so smart at such a young age, it shocked her. Stacking the blocks perfectly. He was a born thinker. She leaned back and smiled as she watched him. Occasionally he would look up at her and go into a fit of giggles.
Mary sighed and heard a nurse come in with a jar of baby food. She smiled and took the food, pulling the boy in her lap. "Ready for some baby food?"
The boy got excited and nodded fast. He opened his mouth each time Mary got her spoon full. She played airplane and drove it right into the boys mouth. She could do this for the rest of her life and be completely happy. Before the nurse left Mary looked up at her. "Why is he wearing girl clothes today?"
The nurse laughed and shrugged. "I think that's all we have right now. We're not used to ones this young, or if they come into us this young they don't stay long with their mahmens."
Mary nodded and looked down at the boy. "I'm going to find you some boy clothes."
Mary finished feeding him and set the food on a small table by the door. He ate everything and was dropping his eyes as he sat and waited for her to come back. Mary smiled and gently picked him up, cradling him in her arms, rocking slowly. "Go to sleep baby boy, I'm here..."
Mary slowly started singing Rock A By Baby, over and over.

After ten minutes of rocking the boy was out cold in her arms. His little thumb just inches away from his mouth, it had fallen out of his mouth as he drifted to sleep. Even though his eyes were closed, she could tell he was dreaming. Mary sighed and kissed his forehead as she walked over to his crib. It was plain white, with a plain white sheet. In fact, the whole room was white, except for the few infant toys scattered around the center of the room that they had been playing with. After Mary laid the boy down she turned and started picking up the toys, putting them back in place. It only took a few seconds, which didn't bother her at all. Once the room was cleared she looked around before exiting. Mary walked up to the closest nurses station and smiled, leaning on the desk. "I'm going to make a quick run to the store for some boy clothes for him. Is that okay?"
The lady nodded that was doing some quick paperwork on the new family. "Of course. Is he asleep?"
Mary nodded and then walked out of the building to her car. She hoped in and found herself soon at the mall in a Baby Gap. If she wouldn't have previously been here with Brinn then she would have never known this store existed. It had the cutest clothes. She picked out a few outfits, and they were more for the cold days coming up. She had one particular favorite that she couldn't wait to see him in. As soon as she was done paying she walked out and back to her car.
In what felt like minutes, she was back at Safe Place. As she walked in and checked back in there was commotion in her baby boy's room. Did she really just say her baby boy?
Mary sprinted over to the door, pushing her way through the observing women. Mother's in the hallway, holding their own children while frowning. Mary could hear the blood curdling screams of the boy. Mary's blood was boiling, she needed to get in there and save him from whatever was happening! Mary pushed and shoved her way through, dropping the bags as she broke free of the bystanders. He was refusing to be held by anyone. There were two women trying to pick him up, one was sitting in the rocking chair, bleeding. Had he bit her? Mary looked around and as soon as their eyes met the boy stopped screaming. The two women slowly turned around to see what he had saw, and in unison they both took a deep breath. "Thank God you're hear. He woke up, screaming. Elizabeth over there tried to pick him up, but he thrashed and then bit her, with the few teeth he has."
Mary dropped the bags of clothes and quickly walked up to the crib between the two ladies. "Has he ever done this before? Was he having nightmares?"
Mary knew that type of aggressiveness was not normal in a child, not one this small anyway. The baby boy slowly lifted himself up in his crib, holding his arms out for Mary, begging with his eyes to be held. Mary looked down, almost afraid of the attachment that was growing. If he went with someone else, he'd have a very hard time, they both would. Mary looked from one lady to the other. "Am I spending too much time with him?"
Suddenly, the boy realized that Mary was not picking him up. He slowly started to whimper, big tears falling from his eyes. Mary's head turned fast, capturing the little boy in her vision. With one swift swoop she picked him up and hugged him hard. "Shhh, don't cry... and you have to be nice. These are your friends."
Mary shrugged and looked at the women who were now standing together by the door, the one who had been bitten, Elizabeth, must have left while she was talking. The bystanders were also now gone. One of the women spoke up, sighing softly. "I think it might be a good idea for a little bit of separation. You've only been here a couple days, and he's already attached to you. If you don't find out soon if you can take him home, then you might need to not come back to this room."
Mary couldn't even fathom not coming back to this room. She shook her head and looked down at the boy. He seemed to understand the women, grasping onto Mary's clothes tighter, as if she was going to drop him and leave now. Mary looked up at the women. "I talked to my Hellren this afternoon, and he's out tonight working. I will come back with news as soon as I can, but I will not stop seeing him. He's, mine."
The women both backed out of the room slowly. The boy relaxed his grip and nuzzled into Mary's chest. She wrapped her arms around him even tighter. "I am not going anywhere."

Mary looked up at the clock as she was rocking her boy to sleep. She really needed to get out of here and head back to the Mansion before Rhage got off his rotation. He was getting off early tonight so they could come back here and he could meet him. She still couldn't believe that he had said yes. Mary had decided that before they went through the rest of the process, like going to the King and Beth, that she'd bring Rhage here to meet him. She hoped that Rhage would feel an instant connection as much as she did. Something just felt like it was supposed to be this way.
Mary looked down at the very fast asleep little boy. She cooed and kissed his forehead. "Hopefully I can take you home soon... and I hope you like Rhage as much as I do. He's going to be such a great dad, and I hope it would be to you..."
Just as she finished talking about Rhage the little man opened his eyes and smiled. She would have sworn they had twinkled right then and there. As soon as he'd opened his eyes, he closed them. His breathing leveled and she knew he was out. "I'll be back in a couple hours, please stay asleep for me, and no more nightmares..."
Mary walked over to the crib and tucked her little man in. As she walked out of the room she met Marissa in the hallway. She shook her head and crossed her arms. "You're crazy, but I really hope you can take him."
Mary sighed and looked around the hall then back to Marissa. "I do too. I'm bringing Rhage tonight, so we'll see. I've got to go, I'll be back in a couple hours."
Marissa waved as Mary made her way out of the building and back to the mansion.
